Help us raise $40,000 in support of our Fall 2026 performance season!
Join us for Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre's 2026 Benefit! The evening will feature the intimate NYC premiere of Losing It, followed by a conversation with the artists, dinner and drinks at Funoon, a Greenpoint venue focused on showcasing Arab artists.
Co-created by YSDT artist Samaa Wakim and YSDT Artistic Director Samar Haddad King, Losing It explores how growing up under occupation - alongside the trauma of previous generations - manifests in the body through movement and sound. Featuring an original score - performed live onstage by King - including field recordings taken throughout Palestine since 2010, the sounds of fear and safety come together to the point where past and present cloud the future.
“An intense, overwhelming, and necessary stage experience to never forget that war spares no one and always leaves its mark." – Caroline Charron, ResMusica
Seen in over 80 cities across 16 countries since 2021, this critically-acclaimed and timely work comes to NYC for one special night only.
Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre (YSDT) creates invigorating performance and education programs that expand access to - and promote understanding through - the arts. Founded in 2005 by Samar Haddad King, YSDT has a repertoire of 30+ original works performed across NYC, regionally, and abroad in 21 countries across five continents. Since 2011, the company has worked transnationally between NYC and Palestine, and is committed to uniting diverse artists and audiences in the creative process, rooted in the belief that art should be liberating, transformative, and accessible to all.
